MathMagic Lite is the ultimate FREE equation editor for Mac OS X.
It comes with much of "MathMagic Personal" feature set including all the fine controls of equation shape, size, style, spacing; various fonts and symbols; on top of more streamlined interface for commonly used features. MathMagic equation can be copy and pasted or drag and dropped into other applications and documents in PICT or PDF format. Those MathMagic equations, as well as MathML, LaTeX, Plain TeX, MathType equations, Wiki equations, can be dragged or pasted into MathMagic Lite to convert and re-edit.MathMagic Lite is mainly based on their popular MathMagic Personal edition, but excluding Color, multiple StyleSet, Nudge control, exporting in MathML and LaTeX, some rarely used templates and symbols. MathMagic Lite reads all MathMagic Personal / Pro equation files.
