MAMP 5.7

MAMP is a Mac utility that helps users install Apache, Nginx, PHP and MySQL on their machine and therefore have a personal web server. The name of the program is an acronym for Macintosh, Apache, MySQL and PHP.

The program's installation process goes seamlessly and can be completed by any type of user. As you start the app, you get in touch with its UI, which looks rather simple but has a nicely crafted design. There are no options for graphical customizations and overall there's not a lot of variety in the configuration menu.

When it comes to its functional capabilities, MAMP has a modular structure that is essential to enhance the HTTP web server through various add-ons. More, it's equipped with 70 Apache Modules that include PHP, Webdav, SSL, Cache, Auth and others.

MySQL can be used to build a powerful relational database in order to work in conjunction with a dynamic website. Once you've developed your MySQL database app, you can deploy it on the web for live use.

The PHP comes with two versions that can easily be accessed from the Settings window. Also, extensions such as XCache, FreeType, libxml or Sqlite are pre-installed with MAMP.

To summarize, MAMP is a free application to easily create and manage a local webserver. Though it's easy to use, it does require basic networking knowledge.
