Mahjong in Poculis is a version of an ancient solitaire tile-matching game. The rules are simple: You are welcomed with a layout of overlaid tiles, which you are supposed to make disappear by matching those with identical symbols.
It is good that the game comes with six different themes: Christmas, Halloween, Asian, Easter, Wonderland and Future. Each of these themes comprises its own layouts, style and sounds. Unfortunately, the graphics are not so good, which causes some strain to the eye. Likewise, I find the music somewhat annoying, so you are free to turn it off.
If you are a beginner, you will probably be pleased to know that the game has three playing modes: Novice, Standard and Expert. Moreover, there are more than 300 levels. Luckily, there are challenges that give you extra scores, such as matching a sequence of pairs. Finally, the game can keep your scores and post them to a world ranking.
All in all, the developer has managed to recreate the popular Mahjong game quite realistically. However, I regret to say that there are better looking variants of the game around. The product is free and downloadable from the Mac Store. Optionally, you can acquire a license as an in-app purchase.
