MacX iPad DVD Ripper is a basic, commercial DVD ripper. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into MPEG-4, H.264 and MOV files.
Graphically, the app leaves a bit to be desired. The design is identical to that used in the developer's Windows converters and rippers. It isn't something you would want to see in a Mac. That fact aside, the app works well. It is relatively fast and easy to use.
Although there isn't a video editor, you can trim your videos by manually typing the where you want the app to start ripping and where you want it to end (start and end times).
In my testing, I selected a single DVD title and converted it into the "Good quality" iPad profile that uses MPEG-4. I trimmed the video to a 1-minute clip, and the whole process took less than 20 seconds. The resulting file played well, except for the subtitles, which didn't look good.
Pros
- It works relatively well
- It is fast
Cons
- A problem with subtitles
- Missing a video editor
- The interface could use some work
