MacX Free DVD to iPod Ripper for Mac

MacX Free DVD to iPod Ripper for Mac is a free DVD ripper that lets you convert your DVD movies into files that you can play on your iPod.

The app lets you load your DVD movies from the disc itself or from a folder on your Mac. This last feature is very useful for users of the latest-generation Mac Mini. Those computers don't have a DVD drive, so you can simply share the DVD drive of a Macbook to the Mac Mini and rip the movie that way if you want. It is also helpful for when you simply copied the contents of a DVD movie to your hard drive.

When you load a DVD movie, the app will display all the DVD titles that make it up. The main title, which often contains the movie, is selected automatically. You can select additional titles by checking a circle next to them. Once you have selected the titles that you want to rip/convert, you can simply choose a conversion profile. There are 14 profiles available. 8 of them are for the iPod Touch.

This ripper can convert your movies into H.264 and MPEG-4 files for video and MP3 files for audio.

In my testing, I was able to convert a few titles of a DVD movie into the iPod Touch H.264 profile. The titles were 5 minutes in length, and the process took a bit over 4 minutes, which isn't all that bad.
