MacX Free DVD to AppleTV Converter for Mac

This app is a DVD ripper that you can use to convert your DVD movies so that you can play them on the AppleTV.

As you may know, the little box by Apple is a great multimedia playback solution, but it has a very limited format support. That is where this application comes in. You can simply load any movie that you want to watch on the AppleTV, and it will convert it to either H.264 or MPEG-4. These two formats are supported by every modern Apple device, including the AppleTV.

The graphical user interface is the same used in all other MacX converters that I have tried. It is simple and to the point and it has on-screen instructions on how to use the application. After you point the application to the location of your DVD movie, either a DVD drive or a folder on your disk, it will list all the DVD titles that make up your movie. You can select the ones that you want to convert and then choose a format at the bottom of the screen. There are 9 conversion profiles available. You will even find a 720p profile, but since all DVD movies have a lower resolution than 720p, you probably won't benefit much from using that one.

Although this app doesn't have a video editor, you can manually enter the start and end times to trim a DVD title to a shorter clip.
