LosslessCut is a simple utility that lets you cut unnecessary parts from your videos. Of course, there are many video editors out there that do this, but the real advantage of LosslessCut is that it does it without causing any quality loss. What behind this is that the program does not perform any kind of decoding or encoding. Besides cutting and trimming videos, the tool also allows taking snapshots of your favorite frames.

The program has a very minimalistic interface, with a few buttons only. However, you will not need anything else to do the job. A video can be loaded by a simple drag-drop operation. Then, you can start previewing the footage to find the frames where you would like to set the start and end times. This can be done by entering the exact numbers and, fortunately, you can cut out various segments in a single session. After doing the selection, you can click on the scissors buttons to apply the changes.

Bear in mind that LosslessCut is not a video converter. Therefore, it does not let you choose a target format different from the source. The best thing about this is that the cutting is done almost in an instant. Unluckily, you cannot choose a different destination folder. Another frequent inconvenience is that sometimes the cutting times are not accurate because the nearest keyframes are used instead.

Besides those already mentioned, the program comes with other features. For instance, you can shift the selection mode from Normal to Near Keyframe and set the capture frame format to PNG or JPEG. It is also excellent news that the tool also lets you rotate a video and delete its audio. Finally, it can even be used to merge various clips, provided they have the same format.

All in all, LosslessCut is a great tool that can help you save lots of disk space by removing unwanted parts from your videos. As said, its greatest advantage is that the process is quick and lossless. Fortunately, the program is open-source and free.
