Lock Screen 2 is an app that allows your Mac to use iOS' lock screen. If you have never held an iOS device in your hands, let me explain.
To lock your screen, you can simply use the hotkey combination Command + L. You can set the app to let you unlock your Mac using your Mac's keyboard by pressing a combination of keys one after the other, or you can use a passphrase that also works with your keyboard. It doesn't work exactly like a password, though. The password has to be a combination of letters that can be entered in a swipe-like motion. In the experimental category on the Preferences window, you can activate a feature that lets you unlock your Mac using your Trackpad.
All in all, this is a nice proof of concept. It lets you mimic the behavior of iOS on your Mac. I still am not convinced the Mac should turn into iOS, though. But other users might not feel the same and could really appreciate what Lock Screen 2 does for them.
Pros
- Trackpad support
- Very customizable
Cons
- I am not sure about how secure the lock might be
How do you get the Lock Screen?
