Info updated on:

LightPaper is a text editor that supports the markdown language. The tool is characterized by its being fast and easy to use. Moreover, it comes with various features that help writing code, such as syntax highlighting and code coloring.

The editor has a straightforward interface, although certainly not as minimalistic as those of other editors I have reviewed. However, it comes with various features that allow focusing on your work. For instance, it does not have unnecessary formatting toolbars. In fact, you can type and format anything without lifting your fingers from the keyboard provided you know how to use markdown. Yet, if you do not, you can still use the corresponding menu command to add formatting. Another convenient feature that helps you keep focused is the possibility to fade all paragraphs except the one you are working on.

It is also good that the application has various panes, which you can toggle on and off. In this respect, there is the Folder Navigator pane on the left, allowing the user to browse through the folders and files without needing to leave the app. This panel also lets you write and store scratch and shadow notes. Luckily, you can work on multiple simultaneous documents on separate tabs. Then, on the right, there is the Live Preview pane, which shows an instant view of the typed Markdown text.

Once you have finished editing your documents, LightPaper lets you export them to popular formats such as HTML and PDF. Unluckily, though, it does not seem to support automatic document saving, which would prevent losing your work in case of any incidence. more
