LaunchMagic is one of the best application launchers for the Mac. The first program that I install on my Mac is an application launcher. And after trying this program out, I am considering switching to it. LaunchMagic lets you access your applications, documents and favorite folders from a single location: the Launch Center. This center displays all your app, regardless of where they are located on your hard drive. It can be accessed with a hotkey or via the menu it puts on your menubar. Once at the Launch Center, you can manually scroll through your applications or use the search feature to find an app. The program is adaptive, so it will remember the applications that you run most often and show you them first when you carry out a search. Besides, if you start typing the first few letters of the app it will be displayed, and you can even assign custom hotkeys to apps for even easier access. Another interesting feature LaunchMagic has is that it can display related documents to the app that you have selected on the Launch Center. This makes it really easy to find a document when you don't remember its name, and it is easier than running a search on Finder.
In my testing of this utility, I was amazed at how smoothly the Launch Center displayed all my apps. I could even resize the size of the icons to show more or less applications on the screen. After some time using Mac OS X's Launchpad, I appreciate being able to see all my apps at once. more
