kodi a media center utility designed for Mac. You can use it to create and listen to music playlists, watch movies, preview your photos, and so much more.
The program works with a wide variety of media formats, lets you create music and video playlists, provides you with multiple playback settings, etc.

In my testing, it took me a while to find the program settings I needed (for example, the option to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode). Also, I didn't locate the global hotkeys definitions (I was able to find them online). So, even though the app appears to be very intuitive, it might take you a while to find the settings you need and configure them according to your requirements.

Another thing that bothered me was that the application didn't let me import individual media files. You can only load entire folders that contain media files, like videos or songs.

Furthermore, you need to install additional tools in order to use some of the app's features. For example, you cannot listen to online radio unless you download and install a specific kodi add-on.

Still, this program is open source, so you don't have to pay a buck to use it on your Mac. It's up to you to decide if it's worth installing and keeping it on your computer or not.

Pros

  • Works with many media formats
  • Allows you to create playlists
  • Provides you with multiple playback options
  • Lets you attach subtitles to videos

Cons

  • Some settings are difficult to find
  • Unable to import individual media files
  • You need to install various add-ons to use certain tools

Great source app, for all kinds of Multimedia viewing, but the only ''small'' complaint that I have is that it is a bit difficult to set up your files, since it is set up like a Windows-based directory system.
