Knox is a Mac program that provides you with a simple solution whenever you wish to encrypt confidential files and prevent other users from accessing the documents. This application allows you to create password-protected vaults where you can store your private files.
The program comes in two display modes: as a menu bar app (I recommend it since it's easier to handle) or Dock utility. The interface is straightforward with easy to configure encryption settings, so any user would be able to handle the app.
When creating a new vault, you can use the integrated password generator which suggests you safe keys for your private data. After you select the encryption mode and the folder location, you can start copying the confidential files to your vault.
An advantage of Knox' new version is that it brings several bug fixes if you work on Mountain Lion 10.8. For instance, if you're using the aforementioned Mac OS X and install the Knox's 2.2 release, you will notice that you can now create as many backups as you want for your vaults.
To summarize, Knox is a helpful application that helps you encrypt files with minimum effort. This app lets you schedule vault backups at any interval of time, it's very simple to handle, and comes with a reasonable price.
