Global hotkeys are key combinations which can be used to trigger actions on your computer. Unfortunately, it might prove to be quite difficult to remember all of them, especially if you defined multiple hotkeys for different Mac programs. KeyCue is a helpful application that provides you with a solution for this issue as it gives you quick access to all of your key combinations.

The utility lives on your Menu Bar where you can find its settings and the integrated help guide. The manual proves to be of good use if you never worked with this type of program before. This help guide will teach you how to define new global hotkeys, change the appearance of KeyCue, and much more.

The main window of the program can be revealed by simply clicking on the app's icon from your Menu Bar. The utility provides you with a list of all available key combinations (for default Mac apps and other programs which were installed on your computer), allows you to click on the hotkey you wish to use, and gives you access to an integrated search tool.

Also, in the Activation panel from the Settings menu, you will find additional options for changing your global hotkeys. The Custom panel allows you to add new key combinations for the programs that are installed on your computer. For example, you can define a global hotkey for opening a certain directory from your Mac.

A very useful feature I noticed while trying out the program was that it displayed a different list of shortcut keys based on the active window from an app. For instance, if you're working in the Finder program and click over KeyCue's icon, the app reveals a complete list of shortcut keys for handling Finder plus several system hotkeys. If you switch to Mozilla Firefox, the list changes.

In my testing, the application worked flawlessly. It immediately completed any given task and used minimum CPU resources.

In conclusion, KeyCue proves to be a smart addition to your collection of Mac programs. It helps you save time and effort when it comes to handling your apps, is very simple to use, and is affordable.
