JEDict is a handy multilingual dictionary that was designed mainly to help you quickly translate words from Japanese to English language and the other way around. But this easy-to-use application also supports a large variety of other types of dictionaries, including EDICT, BEDIC or EPWING dictionaries.
JEDict provides you with two ways in which you can look up words. You can either use the "Kanji view" where you can select any of the available words with just a few clicks of a mouse or you can quickly search for the desired item by accessing the "Word search" tab.
But that's not all that JEDict can help you do. This application comes with a simple text editor which you can use to quickly take notes, for example, and a user-defined dictionary where you can add any desired words and their translations, transcriptions or speech.
In addition, JEDict provides you with a JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) list viewer that you can use in order to learn words and phrases, based on their difficulty.
