iTool Apple TV Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It can be used to convert video files into MPEG-4 and H.264 formats, both of which play quite nicely on the AppleTV and most other modern multimedia playback devices, including cellphones, gaming consoles, etc. The app comes with six different conversion profiles. Three of them use MPEG-4, and the remaining three H.264. The profiles output files in three different resolutions: 320x240, 640x480 (480p) and 1280x720 (720p).
In terms of performance, iTool Apple TV Video Converter did pretty well. It handled a 1080p MKV video without problems. I selected the 720p H.264 profile to convert it, and the resulting file looked almost as good as the original file. I didn't see any problems with the video or audio, other than the expected compression artifacts. But they weren't too bad.
Although this application doesn't come with a video editor, it does let you trim your videos by selecting the start and end points. This feature works well.
In short, although this app works well, it is still a bit expensive, considering that most similarly priced apps come with tons of profiles, better format support, a nicer interface and a video editor.
