iStonsoft PDF Converter for Mac is a program that converts PDF files into Text, Word, HTML, ePub and Image formats.
The interface is a bit cluttered, since you can’t maximize the window. But it is intuitive and efficient enough to make the conversion in a short time.
To start converting, you need to load the files by using one of the two available methods: the first method consists in using the buttons on the interface, while the second one allows you to drag and drop the files on the panelist. You have the ability to select all the pages of a document or to choose only those that you want. The program also shows you a preview of the selected page. Unfortunately the software doesn’t have separate options for each supported format. Only two of them can be modified. The first one refers to converting into ePub. Here you can choose between Image and Text Mode. The second one allows you to convert an image into 5 different formats: JPG, TIF, PNG, BPM and GIF.
I think the developers wanted to ease the work by creating a program with preset functions, but they should have left some choices up to you. If you want to convert into an image, there are a few formats available. Another problem could be the fact that the application misleads the user during the installation. At first, it shows a 100 pages limit, but when you convert, you find out about a lot more limitations. The tool doesn’t have a maximize option, so the displayed preview is useless, because the view is not clear.
In my opinion, I think that the developers had some sense of humor when they set the price of this software, because the quality-quantity report is not fair. I have tested other programs that were cheaper and more efficient.
