iMacsoft Apple TV Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It allows you to convert your video files to the formats that the AppleTV can play natively. Most Apple devices can only open H.264, MPEG-4, MOV and M4V files. In the case of the newest AppleTV, the second generation one, if iTunes can't play your video, your AppleTV won't be able to play it either. This video converter comes preloaded with conversion profiles for the AppleTV and other Apple devices. They all use the same formats, but they vary in the resolutions used. You can also use one of the profiles to convert video files to audio files.
Graphically, the app sports a simple user interface. There is a toolbar at the bottom, the configuration options on the left, and a big space for the files in your conversion queue on the right part of the screen.
There is a video trimmer that allows you to cut your video into a smaller clip. That is the only video editing feature that this app offers.
In my testing, I converted an AVI file into the 640x480 AppleTV profile. The whole process took less than 10 seconds for a 1-minute clip. The resulting file played great on iTunes and the quality was very similar to the source file.
