Helicon Focus

Helicon Focus is an image editor designed for Mac. With its help, you can create a focused picture out of a multitude of partially focused photos.

You don't need much graphic design experience in order to get the results you need as the application comes with an intuitive interface and simple-to-configure output settings.

Focus stacking is a technique that's being adopted by many image editor developers. The goal is to merge multiple pictures taken at different focus distances and obtain a photo with a greater depth of field.

Helicon Focus allows you to import as many images as you like, lets you choose between 3 rendering methods, and provides you with several editing options (adjust brightness level, watermark picture, etc.). Once you finish with the editing, you can export the focused image to your local directories, publish it on your website or share it on your Facebook page.

A disadvantage is that you need to install an additional tool in order to work with this program (Adobe DNG Converter). It might take a while to complete the aforementioned task, depending on your Internet connection signal.

Another thing that bothers me is that it supports a small amount of output formats when it comes to exporting the focused picture (JPG, TIFF, and DNG).

To sum things up, Helicon Focus is an efficient utility that provides you with quality output files. So, if the aforementioned flaws don't mean much to you, you should give it a try.
