Gutterball - Golden Pin Bowling FREE is a great bowling game. It has excellent graphics, which you can customize and it can be run both in window mode and on full-screen. The game has quite realistic pin physics and the controls are very good.
Perhaps one of the things that I like the most about this game is that it can be played as a simulation game and as an arcade game. Most games are either a simulation or an arcade game. When you play well, you are rewarded with power-ups. These are temporary abilities that let you play better. For example, there is a wheel that lets you move the ball after you have let go of it, or bombs that take out multiple pins at the same time. But if you don't use those power-ups, the game remains a simulation, and quite a good one at that.
The controls are very good and let you shoot with a lot of accuracy. To shoot the ball, you simply click on it and push it forward. You can add spin by curving your release. You can drag and drop on an arrow to aim the ball and the same goes for relocating the ball before you shoot.
This free version lets you play in a few different alleys, which are beautifully crafted in 3D. The replays are very nice as well.
In short, this is a great bowling game with great graphics and controls.
