GrandPerspective is an open source solution for analyzing disk space usage on your Mac. With its help, you can locate the files and folders that take up the most space on your local drives or external storage devices.
In my opinion, the program features a straightforward interface, even though some online users claimed they found it difficult to handle the tool. Every option can be found on the main menu or toolbar of the utility and its settings are very simple to configure, even for a beginner Mac user. Simply select the folder you wish to analyze and GrandPerspective will immediately offer you the report you need.
On the main screen, you will see that every file is displayed as a square or rectangle. The bigger the geometrical shape is, the more disk space the file in question uses. You can save the scan results for later, access the built-in help guide whenever you like, and customize the appearance of the report.
The only thing that bothered me was that I wasn't able to delete any data. The Delete option can be found on the main toolbar of the tool. I selected the square indicating the file I wanted to remove from my Mac, clicked the "Delete" button, but nothing happened.
As for the rest, GrandPerspective worked flawlessly and was very simple to handle. In my opinion, you should give it a try, maybe you won't be dealing with the aforementioned issue and you will make use of every useful feature this program has to offer.
