I have read that the use of gfxCardStatus set to 'Always use integrated graphics card' will help with sudden black screen problem I have with my 15-in 2010 MacBook Pro. Is that so? Will the current version of gfxCardStatus work with Snow Leopard? Thanks.

No, the current version won't work in MAC OSX Snow Leopard. The minimum supported version required is: OS X Lion (10.7) or newer. As you can see, Lion is 10.7 while Snow Leopard begins with 10.6, making it impossible to run the application on it. There is also no other version available for downloading that will run on Snow Leopard.
