Genieo is a client-side solution (there are no servers involved) that relies on what Sol calls "Behavioral Plug-ins." When first run, it installs a plug-in for Safari, though all major Mac OS browsers are supported. From there, all you need to do is browse the Web as usual.
My advice is to avoid it.
Genio is considered malware - why do you have it here? You cannot even describe what it does - what it does is serve a whole lot of ads to Safari.
Intrusive adware, hard to remove. The supplied uninstaller leaves a active spyware behind.
