GeeMail is a free desktop Gmail client for the Mac. It was written in Adobe AIR, so it will also work on Windows and Linux. This app lets you connect to your Gmail account and use it without opening a web browser. It has most of the functionality of Gmail. For example, there are keyboard shortcuts, support for labels and conversations, but no chat.

GeeMail sports a very simple graphical interface, and it seems to be using the classic Gmail theme. I really like the GUI since it does without anything that might distract you, including ads.

An interesting feature that GeeMail comes with is "Offline support". This basically means that the app will recognize when it is offline, and if you compose any mails while you don't have an Internet connection, these will be saved and then sent automatically.

There are quite a few things that didn't seem to be working right when I tested this app. For starters, I found the interface to be incredibly slow. Searching for e-mail also took ages, and when I got the results, I couldn't open any e-mails. Technically they were opened, but they were empty.

In short, you are free to download and try this app, but I really can't recommend it.
