FreeMac DVDRipper

FreeMac DVDRipper is a very affordable commercial DVD ripper. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into a variety of video and audio formats, including ASF, MOV, XviD, MPEG-4, M4V and MKV.

Some of the audio formats supported are MP3, M4A, and AAC. This is one of the most affordable commercial rippers I have reviewed. At only $9.95, it is amazing that it packs a video editor and good format support. There are also plenty of conversion profiles to choose from.

Graphically, although nothing to write home about, the app manages to look OK. There is a video player, some space for your DVD titles to be listed and the conversion settings at the bottom.

There are conversion profiles for devices like the iPod, iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, HTC and Nokia phones and other multimedia playback devices.

In my testing, I used a TV show DVD. After all the DVD titles appeared on the screen. I selected one and trimmed it to a 30-second clip and then selected the MOV format as output. I also chose a subtitle for my video. The process was very fast and the resulting file looked great. The trial will only let you convert five minutes of your video or half of it, if the video is less than 5 minutes long, so I ended up with a 15-second clip.
