FOTONICA is an interesting action game for Mac. It is also available for Windows and on Onlive. The game follows the main character from a first person perspective. The game is all about the sense of speed. You start running by holding any button. I used the mouse button, but the keyboard will work as well. When you release the button, you will jump, press it quickly again, and you will land. The objective of the game is to run as far as you can without falling and to collect pink balls along the way. To have better chances, the ideal strategy is to jump to higher platforms whenever you get the chance. When you lose, the game will tell you how far you have gone, and this will be your score. If you sign up for an account, you can participate in online leader boards.

FOTONICA is a very original game. It reminds me of Mirror's Edge, but with minimalist graphics. The action is intense at times, but the game doesn't really get any harder no matter how far you run, and this is great. I think the game needs to communicate a sense of urgency to the player, and I didn't feel it.

The developers of FOTONICA let you download and play the game for free and are hoping for donations. So if you enjoy the game, consider leaving a donation by visiting the developer's website. Anything over $1.75 is accepted.
