Flash Stopper Free could be considered as a system optimization tool. The app can kill all the Flash processes in your system.
Flash Stopper Free runs on the Menubar, from where you can activate it or deactivate it, or kill all the flash processes currently running.
In my testing, even with the app running and activated, I was still seeing Flash animations on websites like the New York Times. When I killed all the processes, the Flash plugin crashed, and the animations were gone. But I had to do it every time I opened a web page. I read on the application reviews on the Mac App Store that other uses say that the app doesn't work all the time. It is a bit of hit and miss. Still, it is nice to be able to kill the flash processes when you want to.
Pros
- It does let you kill flash processes
Cons
- It doesn't kill them automatically in Chrome
