Fireplace Live HD is a nice app that lets you enjoy a virtual fireplace. The app is a collection of 7 high definition videos of fireplaces with burning wood and realistic sounds. When you run the application, it will put an icon on your dock. Nothing will happen when you click on the icon, though. You need to go up to the menubar and click on the application's name to access the preferences or show the fireplace. From the Preferences window, you will be able to select one of the seven available videos and change a few different options. Some of the things that you can change are whether or not you want to play the fireplaces with sounds, the screens in which you want to run the fireplace (if you have more than one monitor), and if you want to use the app as a screensaver. If you do want to make the app a screensaver, you can set some additional options, like time before the screensaver starts running, etc.
All the videos look great and the sounds are nice. They are looped videos, and the transitions are smooth, but noticeable.
My favorite video is the one that shows a few lit candles. This video doesn't have sound, but it looks very peaceful.
