EvoCam is web camera surveillance software for Mac. It allows you to record both video and audio using your Mac's iSight camera and microphone and save the recordings to video files that you can later open with any video player.

You can manually start a recording before you leave your computer or use two advanced recording modes. The first one lets you schedule the recordings. The scheduling system is very complete, and you can choose to have the app running and recording all day or during a specified timeframe. There is also motion detection. When this feature is activated, a recording will only be started when motion is detected. You can add several sensors to different parts of the video feed to customize how the feature works. Although this worked fine, I found it wasn't very intuitive and I found myself adding sensors and trying different settings until it worked. I tried other apps in the past that were smoother at detecting motion, too.

EvoCam supports the iSight camera and other USB cameras. If your camera supports panning and zooming, you can control that from the application. There is also a web server that you can connect to to see what your webcam is seeing. EvoCam will even tell you how many users are connected in a badge on the Dock icon.

All in all, EvoCam is a nice solution with a nice feature set and it works very well. It supports only one camera, though, and the motion detection settings are not the easiest to configure.
