Espionage is a capable security program that enables users to encrypt personal folders from their Macs with minimum effort. This application might prove to be of good use to those who share their PCs with co-workers or simply want to prevent other users from accessing their private folders.
It's imperative to pay a lot of attention when configuring this tool. For instance, you need to enter a master password when you launch the app for the first time. Unfortunately, the app doesn't provide you with any solutions if you forget the entered password.
All you need to do in order to encrypt folders is to drag-and-drop the items you wish to process onto the app's main window and the utility will do the rest. The app doesn't take long to process the loaded folders and informs via a Growl notification once the job is complete.
An important advantage of working with this application is the fact that it can automatically lock its main window once the Sleep mode or screensaver is activated. In addition, you can configure the app to restrict other users' access to your list of encrypted folders after a certain interval of time.
Only two things I didn't like about the functioning of this tool during my testing: the app doesn't allow you to encrypt individual files (you can only drag-and-drop folders) and offers no solutions to restore forgotten master passwords. more
