Emicsoft Media Converter for Mac combines a video converter and a DVD ripper. These two apps are all you need to convert video and audio files and DVD movies from and to a variety of formats so that you can play your media on different devices. Both the converter and the DVD ripper are combined into a single graphical user interface, unlike some similar suites by other developers. The app comes with conversion profiles, which make it easy to convert files for playback on specific devices.

The graphical user interface is identical to all the other converters by Emicsoft. To convert a file, you can simply load it and choose the output format from a drop-down list. If what you want to do is rip a DVD movie, the process is the same, but you have to click on "Load DVD" instead of "Add File". After you do that, all the titles that make up your DVD movie will be listed, and you can check those that you want to convert.

Emicsoft Media Converter for Mac comes with a simple video editor. It can be used to trim, crop and adjust some of the properties of your videos.

In my testing, I converted a sample MKV file into H.264 for the AppleTV. I noticed that there doesn't seem to be a way to get the application to keep the original resolution of a file. Regardless of what you do, the resolution will be changed. In my case I converted a file to 720p, and the resulting file did look good. But it would be great if you could simply not touch the resolution at all. Like many other Emicsoft converters, this one doesn't seem to have been updated for a couple of years. This means no new updates or features for quite some time.
