Easy Ringtones 1.2

Easy Ringtones is a very simple audio edition tool. It can be used to create ringtones for your iPhone, iPod, iPad or any other device that supports the M4R/AAC format.

This is a free tool and, although it doesn't have some of the features that you can usually find in commercial ringtone editors, it is more than enough for an average user.

The graphical user interface couldn't really be any simpler. You will see a bar that lets you manually seek the audio file that you want to create a ringtone out of. There are four buttons: Play, Set Start, Set End, and Make. To create a ringtone, you simply select the start and end points and click on Make. The app will then display an icon on the right part of the screen, along with the legend "Drag it". This is an M4R file and you can drag it into iTunes to add it to your devices or to any Finder window if you don't need to save the file for later use.

Some of the missing features are fade in and fade out effects, support for video files, and a time bar with graphic volume representation.

In my testing, I didn't have any problems opening MP3 and AAC files and creating ringtones out of them. The ringtones were added to my iPhone just fine.
