Drive Genius 3 LE

Drive Genius 3 is a comprehensive set of drive maintenance and optimization tools. There are in total 13 different utilities available with Drive Genius.

They allow you to do basic things like recover information about a hard drive, including its maker, size, file system, and more, to clone, defrag, optimize and repair your hard drive. All these utilities can be accessed from the main window, where they are displayed in nice 3D icons. When you move your mouse pointer over a utility, you will see a description of what each one does at the bottom of the screen.

To be honest, I don't think I had ever seen so many useful and well-designed utilities in one application. All the other similar applications that I tried had four or five features. However, with Drive Genius, you can defrag your hard drives, convert and manage partitions, scan for current and future problems, run integrity checks, duplicate and optimize your disks and even securely delete data so that it isn't recoverable by data forensics applications.

I didn't test all the utilities in this application. But I did test the integrity of one of my disks and I ran a benchtest for it. Both scans were very graphic and illustrative. I like how certain features save your scans to compare them with the new ones, so you can visually see if performance is decreasing in your drives. It should be noted that some of the scans can't be carried out on your startup disk.

In conclusion, I have nothing but praise for Drive Genius 3. The number of useful scans and utilities is astounding and the design and quality of the application are evident. The price isn't bad at all if you compare it with other similar applications.
