Downie is a program that offers you a simple yet effective solution to download video clips from the Web for offline playback. Once the download processes are complete, you can convert the files to the MP4 or MP3 format so that you can play them on your Mac or your multimedia devices later.

The most important feature of this app is that it supports downloading clips from a wide variety of video-sharing websites. What's more, when it comes to saving clips from YouTube, it allows you to choose the output quality (up to 4K).

However, before using this program I'd suggest you to configure the app's settings according to your needs. You can select the preferred output format and quality, enable an option to automatically add downloaded files to iTunes library, choose a destination folder, and much more.

Similarly to the previous version, Downie still supports only two output formats (MP4 and MP3). However, these formats are compatible with most multimedia devices and media players, so it's not a big issue if you ask me.

Therefore, I'd say it's definitely worth acquiring Downie for your Mac. The app is very simple to handle, offers plenty of useful features, and comes with a very reasonable price.
