DesktopUtility is a Menu Bar program that offers you a simple and quick way to complete various system-related tasks. This application helps you hide desktop icons, restart tools like Finder or Dock, show the Library directory, and much more.
Before using any of its features, you need to save several script files in a certain directory on your Mac (Library - > Application Scripts). You can copy one script file at a time, for each of the supported capabilities (empty Trash, show invisible files, etc.). Once you complete saving the script files to the indicated destination folder, you can start working with DesktopUtility.
The application allows you to define global hotkeys for immediately clearing the Trash's contents, showing invisible files, hiding desktop icons, etc. You can also complete the aforementioned tasks by clicking over their correspondent names from the app's main menu.
In my testing, DesktopUtility worked flawlessly. It was very simple to configure and immediately completed the given tasks.
Cutting a long story short, this program might prove to be a valuable asset in your Applications folder. You can use this utility whenever you wish to capture the activity on your screen without showing the desktop icons, need to reveal the invisible files from your Mac or force empty the Trash contents.
It deletes locked files from the trash without having to unlock them all first.
