What's new

v5.1 [Dec 13, 2016]
- Default Folder X now recognizes Save As dialogs when they're in 'minimized' mode. Because it can't provide its full functionality in that state, it provides a button to maximize the dialog so you can take advantage of its full feature set.
- Eliminated a bug that could cause Default Folder X to unexpectedly quit.
- Corrected a problem that could cause the Save button to stop working in some Save As dialogs.
- Fixed a bug that could cause Default Folder X to function incorrectly if you clicked the app's icon in the Dock while it was displaying a file dialog. This affected Office 2011 and older Adobe Creative Suite apps, among others.
- Corrected a problem with Default Folder X not working correctly when its toolbar overlapped the Dock.
- Default Folder X's toolbar no longer disappears when using a shortcut containing the Control+Option modifier keys.
- Fixed a bug that caused shortcuts containing the Shift key to display incorrectly in Default Folder X's menus.
- Remedied problems with shortcuts not working when the Caps Lock key was on.
- Corrected some visual glitches that occurred with Default Folder X's 'minimal toolbar' appearance.
- Improved switching between Spaces while a file dialog is open.
- Eliminated several memory leaks.

v5.0 [Jan 11, 2016]
- Worked around a crash that occurs at startup under macOS 10.12 Sierra.
- Fixed problems handling minimized Save dialogs. This was causing Default Folder X not to appear in Save dialogs when it should.
- Brought back the hidden pref that makes file dialogs start in the topmost document's folder when exporting or printing.
- Corrected problems detecting the current folder when running on systems for which Default Folder X isn't localized.
- Fixed a bug that could cause an inoperative file dialog to be left on-screen.
- Panels in the preferences that contain lists are now resizable.

v4.5
- Fixed a problem in which some applications would mistakenly open both a blank document and the document you double-clicked to launch the app.
- Made setting of the initial folder for file dialogs smarter. If an application actually specifies a folder to start in, Default Folder X respects that.
- The menubar icon is now retina-ready - more retina compatibility is on the way.
- The iCloud icon now shows correctly in all menus.
- Fixed rebound.Earlier Beta versions:
- Fixed a bug that could cause repeated re-launching of AppleScript droplets and other applications that run and then quit quickly.
- Eliminated sandbox warnings in the Console for some applications, including QuickTime Player X.
- Corrected problems with the rebound feature that occurred in previous beta versions.
- Fixed loading problems on 10.8.2. Default Folder X should again be available in all applications.
- "Open and save to the same folder" and "Make save dialogs automatically default to the current document's folder" now work correctly.
- Folder sets are now sorted alphabetically.
- Fixed warnings from mach_override.
- Changed Default Folder X so that it now forces Open and Save dialogs to start in the last folder you used to open or save a document. It remembers separate "last used" folders for each application, and for each application, separate ones for Open and Save. If an iCloud-aware application creates a new document, the default save location will be your last Save folder, not iCloud (unless you last saved to iCloud, of course).
- Default Folder X now opens its preferences using NSWorkspace. This eliminates error messages about the Default Folder X preference pane being damaged.
- Added a new AppleScript verb: GetSaveName.
- Added support for iCloud. Note that you can get to iCloud using the computer menu (the second button from the top) in Default Folder X's toolbar.
- Worked around a problem with file dialogs hanging in sandboxed applications running on OS X 10.8. When editing OpenMeta tags or Spotlight comments, you must now hit the "Done" button next to the editing area to return to the Open or Save dialog. My apologies for this inconvenience - I hope to have a better solution in the future.
- Fixed problems with Default Folder X disappearing if you tabbed away from an application and then back to it while a file dialog was open.
- Fixed problems with Default Folder X appearing in the wrong Space when tab-switching between full-screen applications.
- Corrected a bunch of small issues with OS X 10.8.
- Fixed a problem with printers not automatically quitting after printing like they're supposed to.
- Added support for MailTab for Gmail.
- Added support for MailTab Pro.
- Added support for Concentrate.
