Datura provides a graphic user interface to the popular FFmpeg audio and video encoder utility. With this application users will be able to perform media conversions quickly (when compared to FFmpeg's command line), but considering the poor documentation available, Datura is mainly targeted at advanced users (regular FFmpeg users).

The utility supports an impressive range of audio and video files (mp3, ogg, wav, aac, mp4, avi, mpeg, mov, wmv and many more). Datura is a batch processing tool; this means you can use multiple input files that will then be encoded in a single conversion session. For users who intend to perform conversions with the same input and output parameters, Datura can save it as a project file (which may be reloaded). Apart from media configurations, the application also allows the addition of subtitles (DVB, DVD, XSUB and HDMV).

Datura relies heavily on FFmpeg's capabilities and in its current release, has implemented only a few of its features. I found just a handful of encoding tutorials (like extracting an audio track from a video file) and very few help files; because of this, in spite of its potential, Datura may only be used by power-users.
