Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman was inspired from The Legend of Sleepy Hollows, a short fiction story written by Washington Irving. You play as the investigator from the tale but with a slightly different name. In the short story, the name of the detective is Ichabod Crane while in the game you're called Constable Crane. You will notice more differences between the story and the game plots.

Your adventure starts at the gates of the town where your horse carriage looses one of its wheels. You will need to find a way to unlock the city gates and begin your investigation. The app is filled with dozens of hidden object challenges as well as other types of mini-games.

All important notes are stored in a journal which can be accessed at any time. What's more, you can use the Hint option whenever you're unsure where to go next or how to complete a hidden object mini-game. The one thing that bothers me is the fact that the app doesn't provide you with a built-in map to teleport from one location to another.

The scenes from the mini-games are nicely drawn and with fitting background music. The cinematics look impressive as well. However, I wouldn't recommend this game to minor users as its storyline and some images are a bit too scary for children.

All in all, Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman is an exciting puzzle game that can keep you in front of your Mac for hours. If you wish to have access to an additional chapter and other features, I'd suggest you to buy its Collector edition from the Big Fish website, a popular game publisher.
