Contacts Cleaner

Contacts Cleaner is a small app that can scan and fix contact problems. The application is one of three applications that come in the Spanning Tools suite or you can get it individually on the Mac Apple Store.

The only way of trying this app without purchasing first is to simply download Spanning Tools from the developer's website directly. That way, you get 15 days to test the app and see if it works for you.

Contacts Cleaner scans your Address Book database and it finds potential errors with your contacts. There are several errors that this app can find. The most evident one and the easiest to fix is duplicate contacts. When the app detects several contacts with the same e-mails or phone numbers, it suggests that they might be duplicates, and it can automatically merge them for you. There is another type of error, or lack of data, that Contacts Cleaner can also detect, and that is contacts with just one name. This is not a grave problem but, it can be a nuisance. The app suggests that you change the contact to a business name or you can change that manually.

Contacts Cleaner knows that your contacts are important, so it backs them up before making any changes, and it also reminds you to re-sync any devices that might contain erroneous data after you are done fixing the contacts on your Mac.
