CleanArchiver

CleanArchiver is a file compression tool that supports multiple popular archive extensions. The application can only add files to an archive and is unable to extract them back.

Users can select one of three compression levels, discard resource forks, exclude .DS_Store files and encode contents with a password input.

The best way to use CleanArchiver is by dropping files into its dock icon; there is no option for making the application the default archiver or adding it to the context menu.

Users can create single archives from multiple files or archive files individually but are unable to name the file. When compressing a whole directory of data, CleanArchiver can automatically skip adding .DS_Store or icon files and replace an archive file name without providing any prior alerts. An important program feature is the ability to create Disk Images from folders.

The application doesn't really stand out in front of its peers; the archive types it can create are quite common, it does not integrate with Finder nor does it allow a choice of file name. However, if you need to filter out resource forks from your archives and create disk images quickly, CleanArchiver makes for a decent choice.
