Mac OS X provides you with default file managers for your music and pictures collections - iTunes and Photos (until 2015 it was named iPhoto, but now its name is Photos and is introduced in Mac OS X Yosemite+). However, Apple doesn't provide you with a program for managing your movies. For this reason, apps like Cinematica were developed.
You can use this program to organize your movie collection based on their type (documentaries, trailers, music videos, etc.) or certain technical details, like resolution, video codec, and so on. The application also gives you access to an effective search utility that comes in handy if you're dealing with a large video collection and wish to easily and quickly find a certain clip.
Another great aspect is the fact that this new version provides you with an extra feature: support for the latest Mac OS X version - El Capitan.
Cinematica is very simple to use, works with many video formats, and lets you immediately launch clips directly from its interface into your default video player. Also, if you install the plug-ins available in the Preferences panel, you can import additional video formats.
With that being said, Cinematica proves to be a reliable solution when it comes to managing your movie collection. This program is full of helpful features, comes with an intuitive interface and at an affordable price.
