CHM files are a type of documents that usually contain software documentation. Unfortunately, OS X doesn't provide you with a default reader for this type of files. For this reason, Mac applications like CHM Reader were developed.
This program provides you with a user-friendly interface, offers you support for full text search, and allows you to print CHM content directly from its main window. Furthermore, the utility allows you to copy text content from the input files to clipboard in case you need to paste it within other third-party apps.
You can also zoom in or out the text content and use the integrated text-to-speech engine to play back written paragraphs as spoken words.
Unfortunately, you need to upgrade the app to its Ultimate version if you wish to export the input files to a popular format, like PDF or EPUB. Nonetheless, CHM Reader Ultimate comes with a very reasonable price and comes in handy if you really need to convert CHM files to other formats.
All in all, CHM Reader is a simple and useful Mac application. I'd say it's worth installing it on your computer as long as you don't require to convert the input files to other formats.
