Bigasoft AVI Converter 3.7
Bigasoft AVI Converter is a video conversion utility that lets you convert your video files into a variety of video formats, and not only to AVI, as you may deduct from reading the application's developer description. It doesn't restrict or limit the types of files that you can open, and if you venture into the drop-down menu where you can choose the conversion format, you will see that out of all the conversion profiles available, only a handful use the AVI container.
This converter can also be used to convert your video files into a variety of audio formats, including AIFF, AC3, M4A and MP3, among others.
There is a video editor that you can use to trim and crop your videos, adjust brightness, contrast and saturation and even add watermarks (both image and text) to them.
I tested the application by converting an MKV file to HD AVI. The MKV file used a resolution of 720p, but the converter upscaled that to 1080p, which is the default resolution value for the HD AVI profile. You can change it to 1280x720 if you want. It should be noted that there is no option to keep the resolution unchanged. This can be a problem with some files that use a slightly different resolution. It happened in my testing. My file had a resolution of 1280x544 and after conversion, it was converted to 1280x720, and, as you may suspect, the converted file looked rather different than the source file. This might not be a problem for most users, but those that are picky like myself will probably be affected by this design choice.

- Video editor
- Original interface
- Resolution can't be conserved. It will always be changed after conversion
