AVCWare iPhone Magic Platinum is a very complete set of video conversion and backup utilities. This suite consists of three separate applications all mixed into a single window. There is an iPhone transfer tool, a video converter and a DVD ripper. Thus, you have all the tools that you need to backup your iPhone to your Mac or put content from your Mac to the iPhone, to convert any video file so that you can play it on the iPhone and to rip a DVD movie to see it on the iPhone.
Graphically, the application looks like a regular iPhone transfer tool, but if you look at the left pane, at the bottom, you will see all the extra features this application has.
When you first run this app with your iPhone connected, it will display a short summary of your device, including space used, free space, version number, device type and name, etc. If you want to download or upload data from or to the device, simply select a category on the left pane and look for the relevant files.
The DVD ripper and video converter can be accessed from the left pane. When you open one of them, you simply have to tell the app what you want to convert, and the app will take care of the rest. You can't really choose the conversion format. It looks like these apps use the H.264 and MPEG-4 formats.
In my testing, I connected my iPhone, and uploaded an MKV file, which was converted by the built-in converter before being transferred. The app didn't have any problems detecting my iPhone, converting the file or uploading it.
