Aukun MOD Converter is a video conversion utility that can be used to convert MOD files created by digital camcorders into a variety of other formats. I have never owned a camcorder that outputs MOD files, but I hear that JVC, Canon and Panasonic used the format in the past. MOD files are basically encoded using MPEG-1, but most devices and video players won't open these files because of their extension (MOD). This converter provides a solution to that problem by letting you convert MOD files to DivX, XviD, WMV, ASF, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.264, MPEG-4, MOV, MKV, M4V and 3GP.
The application is divided into four tabs: Open, Edit, Profile and Convert. The first one is the one that you see when you launch the application and load a file. It contains a video player on the right, and a list of loaded files on the left. The Edit tab is basically a video editor. Here you can trim and crop your videos, adjust their properties, add watermarks and even replace the audio track of a file. The Profile tab includes a drop-down menu with all the conversion profiles, and below the menu, you can change individual conversion settings. Lastly, the Convert tab is the last one that you will see. From here, you can start the conversion process and track its progress.
