ARPShield protects your Mac by monitoring your network for any suspicious activity. One of the most popular hacking techniques today is the Man-In-The-Middle (MITM) attack, where the attacker is able to intercept, modify, and even stop your network traffic. This can lead to stealing your bank account information, social security number, credit card information, or worse. ARP Spoofing is a way for them to carry out these MITM attacks.

ARP Spoofing happens when a hacker sends fake (spoofed) ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) messages over a local area nework (LAN). They then associate their MAC (Media Access Control) address with your IP address. Once they do that, they gain complete control of your network. ARP spoofing also facilitates other hacking strategies, such as Denial of Service attacks and Session hijacking.
