The utility allows you to set a CPU usage limit for any of the running apps. Once the programs reach the indicated limit, App Tamer slows them down or shuts down the utilities.

The only issue I have with this program is that you need to install an additional tool in order to use App Tamer. However, completing this task takes just a few moments and you can immediately start working with the program.
