You will only see other player's LAN games if the firewall is shut down on both the server and the client, or if the ports 7777 (LAN Discovery Request), 7778 (LAN Discovery Reply) and 8080 (Game) are open.
If the steering doesn't work (or the game is laggy), the connection or the server is too slow. Lower the 'Display Quality' in this case.
