AccuWeather.com

AccuWeather.com is a weather dashboard widget for your Mac. It uses AccuWeather.com as a source for weather information and it can provide up-to-date information on the state of the weather in locations around the world.

The default widget view displays the current weather information, but clicking on the title bar of the widget will let you access a four-day forecast with expected minimum and maximum temperatures and overall state of the weather. There are two buttons in the top-right corner of the widget. These let you access a daily forecast, which shows estimated temperatures hour by hour, and a radar view, which shows cloud coverage in the past 8 or so hours in your area. I find the radar view very useful to determine whether the sky is going to be clear or overcast.

The installation of the AccuWeather.com widget couldn't really be any easier. You simply double-click the file that is downloaded, and the widget will be installed, and then you will be taken to the dashboard for configuration. You can enter the name of your city and choose it from a list of results, and you can select F or C as your measuring unit.

As far as accuracy goes, AccuWeather stayed very close to The Weather Channel and WeatherBug. I have no way to say which one provided the most accurate temperature reading, but they were only one degree celsius apart from each other. So I will call it a tie.

The only thing that I don't like about this widget is that the developers don't seem to pay much attention to it. It doesn't precisely have a home page; in fact, you will find it within a list of other software for other platforms on AccuWeather.com. That makes me doubt whether any updates are ever released for it.
