4Media iPod Video Converter is a commercial video converter. It was designed to let you convert videos that you can play on your iPods. Although if you choose H.264 or MPEG-4 as your output format, the videos that you convert using this tool will be playable on a variety of other devices, including iPhones, iPads, gaming consoles, etc.
In terms of design, 4Media iPod Video Converter sports a nice graphical user interface. It looks a lot like the one used by 4Media products in Windows. But they made the switch to Mac quite well. Everything looks very polished and it simply works. There is a video player for quick video preview but there isn't a video editor, or a trimmer or a cropper.
In my testing, I converted a sample MKV file into an iPod touch profile, using H.264 for video encoding and leaving the settings unchanged. The process was fast enough and the resulting file looked identical to the source one.
Unfortunately, this application uses an installation wizard, which isn't really a big deal, but it entails some extra user input.
All in all, 4Media iPod Video Converter works well, it looks good and it has good format support for video conversion for playback on the iPod.
