1Click Duplicate Finder is designed to help you find and remove duplicate files. Besides perfect matches, the utility can also identify similar and large files, so you can easily decide which items to delete in order to regain the disk space you are in need of.
Once you launch the app, a targat view window opens up giving you the chance to select in a click either the Home Folder, the Photos Library, or the Music Folder, which are location that usually store media files and consequently, duplicates. However, you can also choose a custom location in case the predefined ones don't include the files you are looking for. To narrow the search and make the scan process last less, you can set from Preferences the minimum size of files to be taken into account by the scan operation, configure an ignore list of folders and particular extensions to be skipped from scanning, and determine the folders that will always and respectively, will never be cleaned of duplicates. Also, you can choose the removal method that suits you best. Therefore, you can ask the app to move deleted items to Trash so you can restore them later if necessary, relocate them to a folder of your choice, or remove selections permanently. The scan results are grouped conveniently into perfect duplicates, similars, and large files with size-related information attached to each category and type of files.
The rules you can set prior to enabling the scan operation are comprehensive and very useful, yet you can't be sure that removing actually works unless you buy the pro version, which however is rather expensive considering that there are similar tools for free.
